Francis Coppola Diamond Collection 2012 Malbec
While making a film in Argentina, Francis Coppola fell in love with Malbec, Argentina’s most popular varietal. When he returned to the U.S., he asked if we could start producing our own. Not many people in California were making it at the time so we’re proud that we were one of the first California producers to bottle Malbec as a single varietal.

- Malbec is less tannic than Cabernet, but more so than Merlot, giving it a powerful structure but smooth mouthfeel. Having produced this varietal for quite a few years now, we’ve perfected our cultivation and winemaking methods, so you get a wine of amazing character and purity. Malbec exudes dark, rich fruit flavors and a unique mineral note that is quite distinct.
- 2012 was an excellent vintage across California because of steady, mild temperatures that persisted throughout summer. Because we experienced such ideal weather conditions, our fruit was able to develop deep concentration and excellent texture and balance.
